Monday 16th September’s parish council meeting saw the co-option of four new councillors. We are really pleased to have them on board and look forward to having them working with us.
Welcome to:
Paul Henderson-Brown
“Hi I’m Paul, I have lived in the village for just over 5 years now, and love the community feeling we have within Welland. I currently coach football for the Welland ladies team, having played at a fairly high standard myself in my own playing days, I try to offer as much experience to both the team and the club itself as a comittee member. I live with my wife, and daughter as well as our highly excitable spaniel dog.
Currently I am working locally within the childcare sector of which I have almost 20 years experience, most of which is at management level. I love to help make a change and support the needs of our younger generation, whilst upholding the local traditions. I look forward to working with and for you all.”
Gary Ware
“I was born and raised in Welland where I attended Welland Primary before the Hill School, Hanley and Worcester Technical College. My parents were one of the first to move into Welland Gardens when the estate was being built. I moved to Cheltenham in 1991 where I eventually married, raised four children, and ran a successful small ICT consultancy. I returned to Welland in 2020 after separating and I live back in my family home.
I applied to join the Parish Council to be able to be involved, and to give back to the community where I grew up. I have spent almost 30 years living in a large town with almost no sense of community. Returning to Welland has made me realise how important living in a happy and wholesome community is.”
Paul Riordan
“I moved to the village about three years ago with my wife and now 10 year old daughter, hoping the move into a smaller village which would give us the opportunity to become more involved in local activities. I have always felt welcome by everyone we have met. I feel that this is somewhere we can enjoy living in for a very long time. So for me this role is a great opportunity to contribute in this community and utilise my years of experience in working with a diverse set of companies and cultures both internally and as a management consultant. ”
Dave Iles
“Originally from Gloucestershire, I’ve lived in Welland for nearly 6 years and over 20 years in Worcestershire. My career has been diverse, ranging from electrician and industrial steam technician to strategic marketing and general management. Currently, I’m the Managing Director of a recruitment technology software company, working remotely, primarily from home. Additionally, I run a live sound business that keeps me busy with festivals and weddings. That does leave me some time to enjoy walking my dog in our wonderful countryside.
I’m committed to helping deliver what is right for this community, and I strive to positively impact our parish by supporting what’s best for everyone living here.”
