Young Filmmakers Course coming to Welland
LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! Calling all budding young filmmakers! We have exciting news! Welland will be hosting a new film production workshop for young people aged from 12-16 years during February half term. The three day workshop will take place from 18th- 20th February and costs just £60.
Published: 28 January 2025

Discover the magic of filmmaking in this three day workshop under the tutelage of our experienced director and producer Nicola Prestage, a renowned independent filmmaker.
This workshop is for young people from Welland and surrounding villages who love watching films and have a passion to learn more about how they are made. So, if you’ve ever wanted to learn more about the craft of writing, planning, digital film quality cameras and studio lighting, then this workshop is for you. You will spend three days learning and working with Nicola to gain all these skills and get the chance to direct and star in the film itself.
The course is part funded by a grant from the Severn Arts Community Fund so we are able to keep the cost to a very reasonable £60 for the full three days. Our venues will be St James Parish church and the Welland village hall and we’ll also be going out and about around the village to make our film.
The only thing you will need to bring apart from your enthusiasm and passion is a packed lunch and snacks for the day. Squash and water will be provided.
The finished film will be screened at a special showing of the Welland Cinema Club. Places on the workshop are limited so apply now, stating your name, age, address and why you’d like to be considered on this course.
To take part in the course you must be available between 10am-4pm on 18th, 19th and 20th February.
