Welland Residents Charity

Welland Residents Charity looks to help local people who would benefit from a bit of financial assistance. They offer one-off grants to give a helping hand when needed. In the last year, they have made donations to the community larder in St James’ Church, given vouchers for use in the village store at Christmas, assisted one resident with help with bills, and helped to buy some books for a young resident about to go to university. If you are in need of help and would like to apply, please email clare.adams56@gmail.com with your request. To be eligible you must live in Welland. Each application is considered by the trustees on its merits. The modest grants are not means tested and are aimed at those in need.

Community Larder

For those in need of help with food in these difficult times, Welland Community Larder is available inside St James’ Church, open 9am to 4pm daily.

Welland against Food Waste

A new initiative in 2025, thanks to the support of Marks & Spencer and volunteer Martin Lawrence. There is a free food giveaway at 10am on Sunday mornings of surplus M&S food that would otherwise go to landfill. It’s generally fresh food such as milk, bread, pastries, chilled ready meals and salads that’s still within its “Use By” date.

Transport links

Welland is served by the new Worcestershire On Demand (WOD) bus service. This offers an alternative transport option to fixed route public transport services, facilitating transport within a zoned area and to specific ‘Points of Interest’ outside of the zone. A bus picks you up at your request, changing its route so that all passengers can get to where they need to go. It operates from 7am to 7pm Monday-Saturday.  Journeys can be booked using the Worcestershire on Demand app (see the website) or by phoning 01905 846180 (9am Mon-Fri).

For information about fixed bus timetables (including the 363 and 365 route) please see bus timetables on this website.

Community Action run weekly buses from Malvern to Tewkesbury (Wednesday) and a Malvern to Upton circular route (Friday), both which go via Welland. This is a ring and book service only – more information on their website.
