St James wraps up 150th anniversary celebrations in style!

This year St James Church in Welland celebrated its 150th anniversary. Now that the celebrations have wrapped up, it's a perfect time to look back and reflect on all of the wonderful events.

The churchwardens would like to thank everyone who helped make our 150th anniversary such a memorable and joyful celebration. From the first planning meeting – with representatives from the Parish Council, Welland Primary School, the Royal British Legion, the Welland History Group, the bellringers and church musicians—many people contributed their time, knowledge and talents.

These combined efforts, joyous celebrations and activities have been instrumental in bringing new people into the life of our church and at the same time we are delighted to have raised £2200 for the church clock project.

From April right through to July we enjoyed talks from the History Group who also put on a very informative display, fantastic choirs, a quiz, and a presentation on The Beatles! Our celebrations concluded on Sunday 27th July with a Holy Communion service attended by The Archdeacon of Worcester, the Ven. Mark Badger with the service led by our Revd Virginia Clements and Communion celebrated by Revd Barry Unwin.
