Welland Walkers, our very popular walking group that strides out every Friday, has recently been able to purchase a portable defibrillator providing an additional and important safeguard for members when out on walks.
Ian Hardicker, who runs the group come rain or shine, said: “This lightweight piece of life-saving equipment can be carried around in a discreet rucksack and is a vital piece of kit for us as we welcome walkers of all ages and it will help us be better prepared for an emergency when we are away from the village’s fixed defibrillator.”
The kit was purchased following a donation from Little Malvern and Welland’s Ward Councillor John Gallagher and it’s welcome news for a group that is growing in numbers and brings residents together to enjoy fresh air, exercise and good company.
The group meets every Friday morning outside the parish hall at 10am. For further information please email Ian at ianhardicker@hotmail.co.uk
