A message from our district councillor: Local Government Reorganisation – Update
The Government has decided to pause the Local Government Reorganisation process.
What this means for residents:
Instead of voting next year for the proposed new South Worcestershire unitary council, residents will vote for their existing district council. The Government has not yet confirmed how long the newly elected district councillors will serve.
What happens next:
The Government says it will review the reorganisation process. It has not yet said whether this will lead to a short delay or a more fundamental change.
The process has already involved significant public spending and officer time. That money and effort cannot be recovered. I will continue to monitor developments and share further information as it becomes available.
