Family Environment Day – what a day!

We had an excellent time at our November family environment day. Thank you to Malvern Hills National Landscape for the funding that enabled us to host such an excellent event.

On Sunday 2nd November we held our second Welland Family Environment Day. This event was funded by Malvern Hills National Landscape, and was done as part of our Community Engagement goal in our Biodiversity Action Plan.

We had an excellent time! As well as making bug hotels, the children made crafts using foraged materials, including pine cone robins and bats, and autumn leaf art. They also let their imagination run wild, creating insects out of various fruit, vegetables and other edible items.

Perhaps the highlight of the afternoon was the presence of Paul from the Dinosaur, Wildlife & Education Centre. Paul was wonderfully engaging, showing the audience a host of exotic animals including a reticulated python, a tawny frogmouth, a skunk, a pygmy hedgehog, a genet and much more!

We are hugely grateful to:

  • Malvern Hills National Landscape
  • Paul at DWAEC
  • All of the volunteers who gave up their time to plan and attend the event, making it possible, including Sue, Beccy, Suzanne, Trevana, Rachel, Ben, Mick, Heidi, Tessa, Patsy, Linda, Sandie, Barbara, Richard and Mike.
