Welland has grown significantly in recent years, with our population now reaching 1,500, yet our beautiful gardens remain a hidden gem in the shadow of Malvern and Upton’s famous “In Bloom” events. Local gardening enthusiast Martin Lawrence wants to change that by launching the Welland In Bloom & Gardening Club.

Martin envisions a community-led group where our gardens become spaces for connection. Whether you have a sprawling lawn or a small patio, this is about more than just plants, it’s about wellbeing and community.

“Our gardens are tranquil places that please a myriad of senses, fragrance and aroma of herbs, flowers and newly cut grass, sight of tall grasses waiving in the breeze, butterflies and bees, the sound of birds; all these elements improve our mental wellbeing.” says Martin.

“I envisage a club where we can invite local garden lovers for tea, cake, and a chinwag. It’s a wonderful opportunity to socially connect, make new friends, and combat isolation across all age groups.”

How to Get Involved:

If you would like to help, putting Welland on the floral map, or simply fancy a chat over a cuppa in a beautiful setting, Martin would love to hear from you.
