Welland Community Cinema – NTL: Mrs Warren’s Profession

This National Theatre Live performance follows Mrs Kitty Warren, a woman who has fought her way out of poverty to secure wealth and independence by means society refuses to acknowledge. Her daughter Vivie, university-educated and self-possessed, is proud of her mother’s success — until she discovers the source of that success and their relationship is torn apart.

What follows is a battle of wit, principle, and love between two fiercely intelligent women, each convinced of her own integrity. Shaw’s sparkling dialogue and incisive humour cut through the hypocrisy of polite society, exposing its dependence on exactly the moral compromises it condemns.
