Community Spaces

The Parish Council own, and with other groups, take care of a number of community spaces. Find out more below:

Welland Parish Hall

The Village Hall has two rooms available to hire: The Large Room is suitable for meetings, parties, dances, wedding receptions and more. TheĀ  Small Room can be hired out for activities including art classes, clubs, study groups and small meetings. The Hall is fully equipped with kitchen facilities, including a serving hatch and a separate bar area. For more information and to book the hall, visit the Village Hall website.

The Small Room at the Parish Hall also plays host to Welland Social Space and Library.

Pavilion

The pavilion is home to both Welland junior football club and Welland preschool. It is located by Spitalfields and has recently had a new kitchen refurbishment, thanks to a grant from the Football Foundation.

Spitalfields and the Outdoor Gym

Spitalfields is a playing field in the centre of the village. As well as hosting the regular training sessions for Welland FC, this space has a basketball net, a teqball table, a table tennis table, and an outdoor gym. The gym is fully carbon zero, and you can use the Kompan app for guidance about how to use the equipment and to link your use of the cardio equipment to your smartphone health data.

Playpark and Field

The playpark is located in the centre of Welland, next to the Village Hall. It is a great place for children with a slide, seesaw, swings, a flying fox and more. The field is a lovely place to run, play, kick a football, walk dogs, and in the summer is the site of the village summer fete. It is also used by the school during weekdays as their sports field.

Pursers Orchard

Welland’s Community Orchard is open to all and is maintained by a group of volunteers. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the tranquillity and the wealth of wildlife in this public open space, as well as the produce when the season arrives. Recent additions include an area of jubilee planting, a pond, and new picnic benches kindly funded by a donation from the Cordery Club. The orchard also plays host to the Winter Wassail, an annual community event designed to welcome in the new year and bless the fruit trees to ensure a bountiful harvest!

The Green and Welland War Memorial

This memorial commemorates the members of Welland parish and former pupils of Welland School who died in the First and Second World War. The grass of the Green is intentionally left to grow during the summer months to allow wild orchids to flourish.

Old and New Cemeteries

Welland has two cemeteries; one located at St James’ Church, and the other on Marlbank Road.
