Major changes are planned to councils across Worcestershire as part of the biggest shake-up of local government in more than 50 years.
The Government is requiring 21 areas of England to restructure their system of local government before 2029.
The six borough, city and district councils across Worcestershire are now asking for your help to piece together who in future should deliver the services you rely on every day.
In Worcestershire there are two options:
- Replace all councils with one single unitary council
- Replace all councils with two unitary councils, representing North Worcestershire (current Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest councils), and South Worcestershire (current Malvern Hills, Worcester and Wychavon councils).
Shape Worcestershire is a website that has been created to discuss these changes in more detail. Anybody can submit their opinions by completing this survey.
At the Parish Council meeting on the 16th June, it was decided that Little Malvern and Welland Parish Council would respond to this survey in favour of the Two Unitary Council structure. It was felt by councillors that this was more likely to represent the local interests of small rural parishes like Little Malvern and Welland.
