Welland Artists get involved in Worcestershire Open Studios Art Week

Spanning ten days from 16th to 25th August, Welland will become a hub for art lovers as artists and makers in the locality open the doors of their studios to visitors as part of Worcestershire Open Studio’s ‘Art Week’.

Published: 13 July 2025

This exciting, free, annual event will see 167 artists and makers throughout the county invite the public into their workplaces to see how, what and why they create.

In Welland, five artists will be welcoming visitors to their studios. Charlotte Carver will show her colourful acrylics and contemplative sketches; Jen Janes’ oil paintings are inspired by local and national landscapes and coastlines, and Debbie Macklin will be working in oils in a recently restored 17th century threshing barn. In Ali Mesley’s studio, visitors will find 2D and 3D mixed media, textiles, collage and glasswork, while Louise Pilditch’s work is inspired by local sunrises and the River Wye, but also much further afield: visits to Svalbard over 14 years, where her son lives, have led to a body of work and a newly published Monograph.

“For me and our other local artists, taking part in this event means more than just displaying art” says Jen Janes, “It is about connecting with people who appreciate creativity, exchanging ideas, celebrating the rich artistic talent within our area and a chance to showcase our work.”

There are many other venues in the Malvern area which are easily accessible to say nothing of those elsewhere in the county. Anyone who loves art and is looking for a great day out in our glorious countryside can find out more about who’s taking part, their opening times and directions to their studios at  www.worcestershireopenstudios.org
